Kyushu League
All three main contenders for the Kyushu League title were convincing winners in their Sunday matches, New Wave Kitakyushu holding on to a narrow lead thanks to their 3-0 win over mid-table side Okinawa Kariyushi. But if New Wave were previously unaware of the challengers right behind them, they will surely know now - Honda Lock and V Varen Nagasaki both demonstrated the strength of their firepower in 8-1 victories against Nanakuma Tombies and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Nagasaki respectively. Nippon Steel Oita remain just a little off the pace in fourth after they beat Osumi NIFS United, but the other significant match of the round was in Okinawa, where Kaiho Bank SC did their chances of avoiding relegation the power of good by beating Kumamoto Teachers.
