Kyushu League - Saturday Scores
Japan's Regional League season got underway on Saturday, with a full programme of games in the Kyushu League. The matches form part of a Kyushu weekend double header that traditionally kicks off the campaign in that part of the country. All the teams gathered together in Nagasaki and there will also be a five games on Sunday - including a first appearance of 2007 for Honda Lock, following their relegation back from the JFL.

Former Avispa Fukuoka man Ryota Arimitsu got 2006 champions V Varen Nagasaki off to a winning start, notching up the only goal of their game against promoted side Kumamoto Teachers. But the big winners of the day were ambitious New Wave Kitakyushu, for whom ex-J-League star Shinji Fujiyoshi was on target in a 5-1 defeat of Fukuoka students Nanakuma Tombies.
