Tohoku League Prefectural Play-offs / 2007 Team Lists
Rather belatedly, here are the available results from the Tohoku League Promotion Play-offs, followed by a list of the teams that will be competing in next year's divisions, all three of which will have eight clubs participating. In Division 2 (North), Saruta Industry from Akita prefecture make their first ever appearance at regional level, while Iwate's Omiya Club return after a four-year absence. The Southern section will include for the first time Soma SC and Nakaniida SC from Fukushima and Miyagi respectively.

Which teams are going up from the JFL then?
2007/09/24(·î) 22:48:00 | URL | Omiya Fan #-[ ÊÔ½¸]
Rosso Kumamoto almost definitely; maybe FC Gifu. It looks as if Tochigi and Tottori are probably going to apply as well, but the J-League have already indicated that a top four JFL finish is necessary, so most likely they're probably just getting in a bit of administrative practice.

Tochigi
Would be good if they went up - not to far to get to if we go down.
Nice ground by all accounts too.

Arte Takasaki
Hopeless by the look of things. Shame really as it's only an hour on the train from Omiya!
Will they get relegated or thrown out for being rubbish?

The process of relegation from the JFL depends on how many teams end up getting promoted to J2.

Since the creation of J2 and the reorganisation of the JFL in 1999, there has never been an instance of direct relegation from the JFL to the Regional Leagues, but on the basis that everyone is keen to encourage ambitious and well-organised local clubs up through the pyramid towards the J-League, it's obviously necessary to find a mechanism to demote the under-achievers.

In 2006, this meant a home-and-away play-off between the bottom side in the JFL (Honda Lock, from Miyazaki) and FC Gifu, who had finished second in the Regional League Championship Winners' Play-off. As you will be aware, Gifu won this and have done well in their first season at JFL level.

There will clearly be a need to bring new clubs into the JFL next year, given that, (a) Rosso Kumamoto will probably go up, (b) Gifu may do as well and, (c) YKK AP and Alo's Hokuriku will merge, therefore freeing up one more space. My guess is that direct replacements for the above teams will be promoted via the Regional League Play-offs, but that there will also be an additional play-off a la Lock - Gifu, in which Arte Takasaki will have to go head to head against one of the Regional League sides.

Based on their form throughout this season and the fact that they lost 3-1 to Prefectural League side Tonan SC Gunma in the local Emperor's Cup Final, you would have to say that it is extremely likely that Arte will be playing Kanto League football next year - if they haven't folded entirely.

Any hope for the Toyama outfit (as of next year)?
If one of Alo's or YKK make 4th place will they go up?
Quite confusing.

Well, there haven't been any announcements about Kataller Toyama (as the merged YKK / Alo's team will be known) regarding important matter such as infrastructure or even what they are aiming to achieve. They definitely won't be promoted this year, no, but given that YKK and Alo's are both top five teams then you have to consider that if the new club get the organisational side sorted out, they must be in with a chance of promotion in twelve months' time.

Yutaka Takahashi
Saw him play for us years ago in J2 - he was awful!

Are there any decent players to be had from the JFL?
2007/12/10(·î) 22:46:20 | URL | Omiya Fan #-[ ÊÔ½¸]
You only have to look at the bottom quarter of J2 (Mito apart - sorry Vendo) to see confirmation of the fact that it's a big step up from the JFL, that's the problem. Kusatsu, Tokushima and Ehime have obviously all found it tough going since they gained promotion and the flipside of this, if you're looking for an example other than that of Takahashi, is that Sho Gokyu top-scored with thirty for Sagawa Kyubin, after he'd been let go by Kusatsu.
