Only two matches were played in the Chugoku League over the weekend, but Sagawa Kyubin Chugoku's 6-3 defeat at FC Central Chugoku looks to be nothing less than a hammer blow to the Hiroshima-based club's hopes of retaining their 2005 championship win, coming as it does on top of a 3-2 loss at Fagiano Okayama in the last round. Both Sagawa and FC Central are now five points behind leaders Fagiano, with only one game in hand. Hiroshima Fujita SC's miserable season continues, meanwhile, JFE Steel being but the latest in a line of smaller clubs to inflict embarrassing defeat upon one of the best-established clubs in the area.
