Grulla Plan Associate Membership
Tohoku League hopefuls Grulla Morioka are preparing to put in an application for associate membership of the J-League, the status that is currently a required stepping stone for non-league clubs targeting a place amongst the professionals. As has been covered previously here on JNFN, JFL sides Rosso Kumamoto, Tochigi SC, FC Gifu and Gainare Tottori are all in possession of associate membership and Fagiano Okayama of the Chugoku League have only in the last few weeks submitted their own application.

If successful, Fagiano will become the first Regional League team to be granted such status by the J-League. Somewhat ironically, Grulla's fellow Tohoku League side FC Perada Fukushima also applied earlier this year, but were turned down flat. J-League officials have in the meantime carried out an evidently positive site inspection of Grulla Morioka's proposed home stadium and the club plan to have the submission paperwork completed by March next year.
