Chugoku League side Fagiano Okayama have put in an application for associate membership of the J-League. The league's board will on 21st August consider the documentation provided by Fagiano's president - and if the application is successful, it will mean that the Pheasants will be the first-ever Regional League team to achieve associate member status. JFL sides Rosso Kumamoto, Tochigi SC, FC Gifu and Gainare Tottori are the four teams that currently hold associate membership, with Rosso and Gifu in particular in competition for a top four finish that will almost certainly lead to a J2 spot.
