Tohoku League Division 1
Grulla Morioka and NEC Tokin are doing their level best to bring the Tohoku League Division 1 season to an end as quickly as possible, if this Sunday's results are anything to go by. Pre-season favourites Grulla made it eight wins out of eight since the start of the year by trouncing Furukawa Battery 8-0 - but NEC did better even than that, notching up ten against lowly Nippon Steel Kamaishi. All of which means that Grulla are way out in front, although even NEC have a six-point advantage over their nearest challengers, FC Primeiro. Primeiro are recovering well from a slow start and their 3-0 defeat of Morioka Zebra. In the fourth match, bottom team Sendai Nakata Club won for the first time in 2007 against inconsistent Wiese Shiogama.

Kansai League Division 1
After this weekend's matches there are just three rounds to go in Division 1 of the Kansai League - and it is clear that FC Mi-o Biwako Kusatsu are not going to let Banditonce Kobe retain the title without a real fight. Leaders Banditonce strolled to a 5-1 win over mid-table side AS Laranja Kyoto on Saturday to go five points clear, with the added bonus of a better goal difference than FC Mi-o tucked under their belts. But the following day their deadly rivals sent out a strong message that they have not yet given up the fight, as FC Mi-o put nine without reply past a hapless Sanyo Electric Sumoto.

The gap between the two front runners is therefore down to two points, with FC Mi-o now having a slightly better goal difference; the final game of the season, it should be pointed out, is FC Mi-o at home to Banditonce. Elsewhere, Kobe FC 1970 beat FC Kyoto 1993 to boost their chances of avoiding one of the two automatic relegation places. But bottom side FC Glaspo Kashiwara, having failed to win a single match so far this year, are almost certainly down after they lost at home to Ain Food.

Hokkaido League
The Hokkaido League 2007 season is in some senses turning out completely as expected, with Norbritz Hokkaido apparently strolling to the title once again - the former Hokkaido Electric Power side destroyed Barefoot Hokkaido to pick up their seventh straight win of the year. But what is more surprising is that their nearest challengers are newly promoted from the second-tier Block Leagues, in the shape of Sapporo Winds.

They won their local derby against longstanding Hokkaido League outfit Sapporo FC, but that aside the low standard of football on Japan's northernmost major island is all too evident: there is no-one at all who is in a position to pose any threat to Norbritz. Blackpecker Hakodate, for instance, are having a disappointing year and on Sunday suffered the humiliation of a defeat at home by lowly Hokushukai, while the good start to the campaign made by Toyota Motors Hokkaido is now all but forgotten after they lost at home to Tokachifairsky Genesis.

Chugoku League
It's now a remarkable twelve wins from twelve matches for Fagiano Okayama in the Chugoku League, following on from their 5-1 defeat of Renofa Yamaguchi on Sunday - and the club are surely home and dry as champions this year. In order to throw away the title, Fagiano must lose their two remaining fixtures, while second placed FC Central Chugoku have to win their last four matches and make up a goal difference that is inferior to the tune of no fewer than fifty one.

To be fair, FC Central put on an impressive display of their own, running up a 4-1 win over Sagawa Kyubin Chugoku that means they will probably qualify for the end-of-season promotion play-offs as runners-up. There is no relegation from the Chugoku League this year, which means that the other two fixtures were more or less academic, but JFE Steel Western Japan moved away from Hitachi Manufacturing Kasado at the bottom, while Mazda SC picked up three valuable points in the local derby with Hiroshima Fujita SC.
